iRacing Winter Series

iRacing Winter Series –

The Detroit Region SCCA will be hosting its first iRacing League. All participants are welcome, but only Detroit Region members will be eligible for the Championship trophy.

The Winter Series will be run using iRacing and the SCCA Spec Racer Ford (included in iRacing). Future series may vary.

The schedule is Tuesday Nights @ 7PM EST – 9:00PM EST starting on February 6th through March 13th.

A total of 6 Championship races will be run. There are two drop weeks (a minimum of 4 Races are mandatory to be eligible for the 2024 Winter Series Championship.

A meet & greet through Discord is scheduled for Tuesday January 30 at 7PM. https://discord.gg/JgfVsYRzjR (please see the Discord How to guide for details DRSCCA Discord Instructions or see below)

Race Series Schedule – We will follow the Hoosier Super Tour Schedule as closely as possible. Six of the tracks are available on the iRacing service. One is included in iRacing (VIR), the other 5 require purchase if you have not already done so.

*DRSCCA will reimburse 50% of track costs for members that participate in 4 of 6 races

General Race “Day” Format

  • 1 Hour Practice
  • 20 Minute Qualifying
  • 30 Minute Race
  • A mystery race will be run for no points post championship activities. (optional)

Points Standings and Rulebook – Points standings will follow the traditional SCCA points system. Standard iRacing rules apply and SCCA rules are applied when applicable. Minors may be present so we ask that you mind your language.

Registration – Through iRacing service. League name: “2024 DRSCCA Sim Racing Series”.

Spectating – Not ready to race or care to get into SIM racing? You can be a spectator. Broadcasting starts at 8PM. Simply access via YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/live/xEz88oASLVM?si=Or2TGWNz2mymL-Y3

In order to participate in the DRSCCA Sim Racing Series, please follow the following steps:

  1. Complete the registration form using this link: https://forms.gle/RRFkCF4TRHa7x8BYA
  2. Join the Discord server using this link: https://discord.gg/MsYpxqse. See how to Discord guide below for details.
  3. An invite to join the iRacing league will be sent to you via the iRacing UI. Be sure to accept it!
  4. Once it is accepted, you’re all set!

Discord account mandatory for communication.

A trophy is being created for the Series Championship and an award will be provided to the overall champion.

Don’t have a SIM or know how to set one up?…Don’t worry it’s not that difficult and it doesn’t have to break the bank. During the meet & greet we will be coordinating and subsequent session to help those who are in technical help and product purchase guidance.

A virtual Q&A session with the DRSCCA iRacing Chair, Russell Soto will be held on Tuesday, January 20th, 2024 at 7PM EST on the Discord Server. This is an opportunity to answer any questions related to setting up iRacing, or league questions that anyone may have before we start racing on February 6th!
