A great weekend of rallying is coming up – Sat & Sun August 7 & 8!

The Detroit Region SCCA invites you to enjoy a great weekend of rallying! Saturday and Sunday, August 7 and 8, will find the region putting two terrific National TSD rallies. Saturday Bruce Fisher will test your observation and decision skills in the ‘Are You Territorial?’ course rally. On Sunday Ken Wiedbusch will put the emphasis on maintaining correct time and staying on course in their ‘Lazy Daze’ tour rally.

Both rallies will run on an entertaining mix of well-maintained paved (60%) and unpaved (40%) country roads around the state recreation areas and farm lands of Southeastern Michigan. The rallies will be headquartered in Chelsea MI, which is just a 45 mile drive from Detroit Metro airport.

Are You Territorial is a late summer daytime Course rally that will challenge your ability to apply the route following rules and directions to follow the prescribed rally route. Both Numbered and Lettered Route Instructions will be used along with modified “Onto” and “T” Main Road Determinants.

New to this idea of ‘trap’ (Course) rallies? Don’t be put off – if you’ve run Tour rallies before, you have the basic skills you need. You’ll just be adding another element to the challenge! Rallymaster Bruce Fisher has worked hard to write the traps (instructions that attempt to take you off course) in such a way that even if you fall for the trap, you’ll still wind up back on course and won’t be lost in the middle of nowhere. In addition, even if you still manage to get lost, Bruce provides GPS co-ordinates recovery points so you can continue on. Come give Course rallying a spin and learn new stuff!

Sunday’s Lazy Daze is Tour rally, and is novice friendly. Rallymaster Ken Wiedbusch works hard to put on events that are fun for experienced crews and novices both. This late summer daytime event is a briskly paced tour rally, so there are no tricks or traps. Join with other teams to test your ability to pass the hidden controls neither early nor late.
