The 2023 Awards Banquet and 75th Anniversary Celebration was a success!

Held on March 10th at the Regency Manor in Southfield, 140 attendees enjoyed some of Metro Detroit’s yummiest Middle Eastern Cuisine. Though a an activity worth talking about, the food was only one of the stars of the show.

This years event included two simulators provided by one of our sponsors, superlap.world. Enjoyed by dozens of attendees, young and old were able to experience simulator racing. This year we also brought back the popular matchbox races. Thank you to the Meredith’s and Gary Godula for taking the helm and overseeing the clutch racing!

Lots of fun was also had during the ceremony too! A sound decibel challenge was held to see which program was best represented. Hoping for this to be a tradition for many years to come and an incentive to participate in the banquet we are working on a perpetual trophy. In the meantime, here are the scientific results for this year’s banquet:

• Course Marshals 97.8 db
• Solo 102.7 db
• Rallycross 0.0 db (apparently the bar next door was serving cheaper drinks and they all but one skated early)
• Road Rally 100.9 db
• Road Racing 106.3 db

Of course the brightest stars of the show were the 2023 Champions and Perpetual Award and Trophy Recipients. Some whom provided memorable speeches that reassured everyone in attendance that the DRSCCA is running strong and poised to flourish in the coming 75 years!

There was one more noteworthy and memorable announcement made during the show, the launch of the Jerry Shiloff Road Racing Detroit Regional Series for 2024. This has been in the works for sometime, but we’ve been waiting for the right moment to announce it. Jay Pistana has volunteered to step up and oversee the launch of the series. Details will be released in the coming days.
