Candidates needed for the Board of Directors Election

Attention Detroit Region Members:

Are you interested in the direction of the Detroit Region SCCA? Would you like to have an impact on the events you participate in? How about being on the inside of staging a world-class motorsports event, or enhance your resume by serving as a director or in another volunteer position? All these opportunities are available to you.

The 2022 region election for the 2023 Board of Directors is coming up soon. Our new electronic membership voting system will be launched in mid-October with the results announced at the November BOD meeting. If you have an email address change and would like an update, send it to me.

We are opening the window for any adult member in good standing to run for election or nominate another member to run for election. It is simple. A short statement or brief describing who you are and why you would like to serve is all it takes. Please contact me or any of the other region officials if you have questions and would like to know more about this opportunity. The nomination process will close at the end of September.

I mentioned other openings, positions, and opportunities that are available for 2023 including:

  • Autocross (Solo) Director- Appointed BOD voting position
  • Chief of Registration- Club Racing, RallyCross, and Rally (earns event worker points)
  • Chief of Membership- Appointed position (earns monthly worker points)
  • Worker Points Keeper- Appointed position (earns monthly worker points)
  • Program Equipment Managers- Appointed positions (earn event or monthly worker points)
  • Event Support Chiefs- Race, Solo, RallyCross, Rally, and Special Events (Detroit Grand Prix, Formula SAE, Empire Hill Climb, Autorama, etc.) (earns worker points and other perks)
  • Event Volunteers- All programs, Registration, Timing & Scoring, Flagging & Communications, Emergency Services, Grid, Sound, Tech Inspection, Stewards, Hospitality, and Impound. (Earns worker points and other perks)
