2025 DRSCCA Awards Banquet Recap

The 2025 Detroit Region SCCA Awards Banquet was a full house, with 170 members and guests filling the ballroom at the Radisson Hotel in Southfield on Saturday, March 7th. The evening brought together competitors, volunteers, and friends of the club for a night of celebration, recognition, and motorsports camaraderie.

Greeting guests at the entrance was Scott Beute’s RallyCross Fox Body Mustang, proudly representing the RallyCross program. Inside the banquet hall, three additional race machines highlighted the region’s road racing success:

  • The Detroit Grand Prix show car  – FYI the DRSCCA has been supporting the DGP since 1982
  • Huffmaster Motorsports’ 2025 T4 National Runoffs–winning Ford Mustang, displayed alongside its National Championship trophy
  • AG Racing’s Spec Racer Ford, finished in a 1966 Le Mans Ford GT40 tribute livery, fresh off a Best-in-Class award at the 2026 Detroit Autorama

With such strong displays from RallyCross and Road Racing, the Autocross and Road Rally programs have already promised to bring their own vehicles next year—and perhaps we’ll even see the return of on-site race simulators.

Motorsport Art Exhibition

Before the awards presentation began, members enjoyed a motorsports art and photography exhibition featuring work from nine talented region members. The display showcased both analog and digital formats, drawing steady crowds throughout the evening.

Participating artists included:

  • Adam Nagy
  • Brandon Karsten
  • Mario Sanchez Arma
  • Alejandro Della Torre
  • Chris Ohtake
  • Franklin Chen
  • Galen Bundy
  • Joe Li
  • Jeff Carter

Be sure to support their work on Facebook and Instagram, and visit the DRSCCA social media groups for even more motorsports imagery.

Celebrating Our Champions

The Sound Decibel Challenge

For the third consecutive year, the banquet featured the Sound Decibel Challenge, measuring which program could generate the loudest cheer in the room.

The results were close, but the numbers tell the story:

  • Road Racing — 101.8 dB
  • RallyCross — 101.6 dB
  • Course Marshals — 100.5 dB
  • Solo — 99.2 dB
  • SIM Racing — 93.8 dB
  • Road Rally — 90.2 dB

If your program didn’t take the top spot this year, you’ll have another chance to bring the noise at the 2026 banquet.

Looking Ahead

As the Detroit Region continues to grow, the club is looking for members interested in helping expand communications, event planning, and member engagement.

If you would like to assist with the newsletter, social media, or serve on the Board of Directors, we encourage you to get involved. The Detroit Region has thrived since 1948 thanks to the dedication of volunteers.

See you at the track, on course or on the road

If the energy in the room was any indication, the Detroit Region community is already looking forward to another exciting season.

We encourage all members to continue being ambassadors for the club and sport —bringing friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers out to events and introducing them to the unique experience that only grassroots motorsports can provide.

Because in the end, the cars may bring us together, but it’s the people who keep the club moving forward.
